Solar Shadows
This interactive map visualizes the trajectory of shadows cast by a hypothetical stick over a full year.
Click anywhere on the map to place the stick. The visualization draws two sets of curves:
- Analemma Curves: The paths connecting the shadow tip at the same exact time of day
(e.g., 12:00) across all 365 days of the year. Note the awkward breaking points in the curves due to
daylight saving time.
- Daily Sweep Curves: The paths the shadow tip follows from sunrise to sunset on a single
day, sampled periodically throughout the year.
